Title: Tatsuo

Help Tatsuo run and jump his way through this 2D platformer as he is in search for his wings!

My partner and I created this 2D platformer which features a little dragon name Tatsuo. Controls are the standard “wasd” or the arrow keys and spacebar to jump. The game works well, the player is able to traverse through the level and jump from platform to platform. I also designed the level and made it so that towards the end it would get a bit more difficult for the player.

There are a list of bugs I would like to address however the biggest issue we had was implementing a respawn. If the player falls down the hole the game will practically end there and you will have to refresh the page in order to start again. Ideally the player would just respawn back at the beginning so that they can continue the game. Sometimes the sprite would jump and land inside the platform rather than on top of it. Another thing to fix would be the jump. Originally it seemed like the jump would happen so suddenly but now it is much better and feels more natural. There are still some things we have to do to improve on the jump, perhaps slow down his landing, I even notice if you hold down the button the character will jump infinite times which allows the player to jump their way to the end. One final major thing I would like to add is that there is no official end to the game. Ideally I would like for the goal to be the wings so that it sticks to the narrative of Tatsuo having to look for them to become his full fledged dragon self. But that will have to be something that we will work on for the final.

Other than the bugs I am still proud of what we accomplished in the end. Both my partner and I were relatively new to this and what we were able to present in the alpha is a huge jump from what we had during the beta. We do intend on working on this more. In fact we would like to add more to Tatsuo and put him into a new setting.
